Using a drop shot (Zoom trick worm, Green Pumpkin Magic) worked to lay downs and the shadows from the shoreline. Caught several small ones 6 to 14 inch range, and then two nice keeper size. One about 2lbs, other about 2.5 to 3lbs, both we're along parking lot near NE end.

Othe TX rigged Flippin baits snag on mossy grass, drop shot keeps bait out of the muck.

June 23rd, 2013 Trip. About 6:30 to 8:20 pm

Conditions were cloudy and blowing with a front blowing through after days of sunny weather. So was thinking the fish might be out moving around with the conditions. Also, lots of minnows (bass fry?) about 1 to 3 inches moving around.

Caught about 15 to 20 small bass on a jerk bait, Jackall Squad Minnow SP, AL Shad Color. A shallow jerk bait that stays off the bottom mossy muck. Two of the bass about 2lbs, but most all small ones.

We're hitting the bait in a "winter" style pattern, after a 3 to 7 second pause, continuous jerks did not produce many strikes. Tried a couple other baits, but was weird cause the Jackall was getting hits about every 3rd cast. Spro McStick and using a Shad Rap jerk style with same retrieve produced nothing.

July 14th, noon until about 1:30. water has really cleared. Visibility is probably over 6 feet. Walked the shore along the grill side. Caught a few small bass on drop shots under the tree overhangs. Tried a few crankbaits and jerk baits but no takers. With the clearer water going to try som swim baits next time. Lots of bass fry along the shore, most about 2-4 inches.

August 11th, 2013 first trip with boat. Typical weather, sunny clear skies with a light breeze. 5:30 to 7:30pm.

About 7 LMBs, one about 4-5lbs, broke off after seeing on brush pile.

Most bites on drop shot near wood structure. No bites on flipping craw. Tried Strike King Series 5 around end of island points, one small LMB on crankbait. tough to figure out contour of point without depth finder.

Would use a senko or similar next time around wood structure, as well as dropshot, maybe go lighter on flippin weight for slower retrieve. Will also try flippin a gluide bait to get erratic fall.

August 24/25th, Evening 4-8pm. Light breeze, water temp 74-78. Moderate stain
5-10 small bass flippin around visible cover. Mostly wood but also some tullies. All fish on dropshot or senko, no bites on jig or flippin creature baits. Was real slow for how good the laydowns and cover looks. Better bites on wood blown structures (tullies and wood).
Worked the channel (10-14ft), channel breaks (6-10ft) and on top breaks (2-6ft) with no bites. Surprised unable to find schooling fish around the channel breaks, got to be there on the right breaks. Crank baits deep and on breaks, then chatterbait and swimbait on the top of breaks and over flats.
Keep working the channels around the flats.. gotta to be schooled up in deeper spots near flats??

Spring Lake, Santa Rosa. February 1st, water temp 51-53, some light breeze, water medium murky. Used depth finder to locate rock piles in 7-10 feet of water. then casted a rapala shad rap deep runner across rock pile. Key was using a suspending shad rap. When the lure would hit the rocks, would kill the bait and the bass would hit it when it stopped near rocks.

Could sometimes feel a hot, pull against a rock again and kill, and get another fish. Also tried a deep running crank and floating rapala, but fish would not hit a moving bait, or one rising when hit. Want to try a jig next time on rocks as well. About 7 bass altogether each between 2-4lbs.. so great day for Feb 1st.
